What's A Grocery Grab?

Junior Auxiliary of Taney County introduced a new fundraiser in the early hours on a Saturday morning in July.  The concept was new to Taney County and was a fun event covered live by radio host Josh Clark from KRZK, 106.3, as well as live on Facebook.

JATC members spent about 2 months selling $20 raffle tickets to a fun 3-minute grocery shopping spree.  We teamed up with Harter House Grocery store in Hollister, MO who allowed us to come in to their store at 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, before the store opened to hold the event.  The winner Kathleen Brown spent 3 minutes whizzing down the aisles of the store pitching items in her cart, including produce, bacon, ribs, salmon, butter, Coca-Cola, pickles, and brownie mix. During her 3-minute shopping spree, Kathleen managed to fill her cart with $322.69 worth of groceries for the holiday weekend.  In addition, a Second prize of a $100 gift card and a Third prize of a $50 gift card to Harter House were given.

There was no cost to JATC thanks to sustaining member Doug Baker of State Farm Insurance who paid for the winner’s groceries and the $50 gift card, and Harter House who opened their store to us at no cost and donated the $100 gift card.

Both Doug and Harter House had so much fun that they agreed to let us do it again in November.  We put the “FUN” in this fundraiser.
